In 2010, Osage Alpacas sent our clip to the Alpaca Blanket Project. Leftover fiber is sent to the Gulf of Mexico to help soak up remnants of the 2010 oil spill. The scarf and blankets we got back are simply gorgeous! Looks like we are doing the same this year. Sorting through fiber this June and early July -- come join us if you'd like to learn about fiber.

April 9th, 2011: Herd Health Day and Pre-Shearing Evaluations! The Osage Alpacas crew and MU VMTH Small Ruminant and Camelid Club volunteers will be getting hands on this Saturday to touchy-feely our way through health and fleece evaluations.

January 2011 - Congratulations to Mariesa Crow for her acquisition of James Bond and Nugget. Those two are quite the clowns and should make for endless hours of entertainment!

January 24th - NEW ARTICLE: Here's an idea for one of the best things you can do to keep your alpacas happy during all this SNOW. Read it in the "advice and opinions" section. Be the best criador you can be!

January 27th & 28th, 2011 - the entire University of Missouri Vet School's First Year Class will be introduced to Camelids by getting the Osage Alpacas Introductory Handling and Behaviorial Management short course. You just haven't seen crazy til you've seen 120 green students chasing 60 bewildered alpacas!

January 15th, 2011 - Osage Alpacas hosted the University of Missouri Vet School's EXOTIC ANIMAL SYMPOSIUM. Dr. Dusty Nagy and Rob of Osage Alpacas gave hands on experience and training to veterinary students from a dozen vet schools from around the United States. It was cold and snowy and really fun!
Osage Alpacas is happy to work with Lauren Henderson of MU VMTH on her upcoming 2011 research project. This important research will finally establish if equine milk production stimulus methods work in alpacas!

Congratulations to Carson and Erin of Cornerstone Alpacas for their newest cria born here on September 25th. 2010. Check him out in the PHOTOS section.

In 2010, there have been somewhere in the neighborhood of 150 veterinarian students out here learning all about alpacas, many of them on multiple occasions. The Camelid Club held events out here on a regular basis. Check out details in the VET SCHOOL section.
Do YOU need RAW fleece? About 50 pounds of Osage Alpacas' best fleece is available for sale. Lots of grey and very fine fleeces; and for much less money than you suspect. Call for details!

SHEARING!  Here's the updated schedule: Tues, April 20th from 8a to 11a; Wen, April 21st from 8a to 5p; Thurs, April 22nd from 8a until finished. Thursday is intended to be "the Big Day".

Other shearing times be announced on Twitter, which you can see just to the right of this text... or follow us @IncanKing.Springtime Shearing and Birthing - Spring of 2010, as with every springtime, will be packed with alpaca activities here at Osage Alpacas. Shearing will begin in early April and continue hopefully no later than through mid-May. This year, the majority of crias are expected to drop in late April and through May; so its going to be a madhouse around here!

2010 Midwest Invitational Alpaca Show is right around the corner! - Osage Alpacas will be in attendence with The Alpaca Company. Currently, we plan to occupy two pens, one of females, one of males. Nate & Turbo, who showed very well in the fall of 2009, will be headliners for Osage Alpacas. See you at the American Royal!

See you at Alpacas In The Ozarks!  Osage Alpacas will being going to Fayetteville at the end of November with Nate, Turbo and Murray; and we're very much looking forward to reuniting with our good friends in the South!

Osage Alpacas will be at the Mid America Alpaca Show over Halloween Weekend in Topeka, Kansas. We’re bringing three really wonderful looking crias from this Spring’s group… our Harlequin male, a rose grey Incan King son, and a fawn Rush son. Osage Alpacas is coming with many friends; Diane and Nick Peckham of The Alpaca Company, Erin & Carson Lepper of Cornerstone Alpacas. Osage and The Alpaca Company will have a pen of young females for sale for a very special price. Come visit us!

National Alpaca Farm Day is this September 26th. Osage Alpacas will be open for farm tours, feel free to stop by! Gates will be open from 9a to 6p.
